Rover on Sleeper

Sorry if this has been answered before but I cant find the thread.

We have a pair of All Line Rovers, commencing Saturday (05 July)
I am sure that I have read on here that an ALR is valid on sleeper services which start the night before. (ie Night Riviera from Paddington at 2345).

Can anyone (a) confirm this, and (b) point me to the written documentation that supports this so we can print a copy in case of query.

We plan to join the Night Riviera at Paddington instead of Reading to get more miles in but if our tickets are not valid then that will mean two singles to Taunton - ouch!

I don't want a discussion on it, just sight of confirmation of validity.

Thanks for the link, I had read that page (and it was what FGW quoted to me when I asked over the phone)
What it does NOT confirm is my main question, ie whether you can board the sleeper with a Rover which commences on the following day (ie night before first day of validity).

I don't know of this rule - others with more knowledge will no doubt be along. However, if it isn't, you could buy a single to the first station passed after midnight (train doesn't have to stop) and split tickets onto your rover there, using rule 19c.

If they are as much use as their call centre was then I would be wasting my time.
We boarded the sleeper last night and had no issues so I think this is an endorsement that its OK. Thanks all for your help

I'm not aware of any easements relating to this and I don't recall seeing any posts about it on here over the last couple of years.

There are a few 'workarounds' to help max out the validity on an ALR. For example where the departure is just after midnight on the very first day of validity. For example:

Night Riviera:
departs Reading at 0037 towards Penzance.
departs Totnes at 0020 towards Paddington (but not not on Sundays where you'll need Newton Abbott at 0001)

Lowland Sleeper:
departs Watford Junction at 0010 towards Edinburgh/Glasgow (note it calls before midnight on Sundays)
departs Motherwell at 0001 towards London (again it calls before midnight on Sundays)

Highland Sleeper:
departs Inverkeithing at 0013 towards London
departs Stirling at 0006 towards London (not Sundays)
departs Falkirk at 0023 towards London (not Sundays)
departs Preston 0052 towards Aberdeen/Fort William/Inverness (0033 Sundays)
