Rover and Ranger ticket prices

Hi all,

Sorry if this has already been asked before but does anyone know where I can find the prices for the Rovers and Rangers.

P.S. I have checked the national rail website and it shows no prices.

It's very hard because the Rail Rovers website is out of date and National Rail doesn't have fares for the majority of tickets.

Some TOCs like Northern and FGW are very good at publicising tickets in their areas and put the prices on their website, but some like EMT don't cover the issue at all.

If you had a specific ticket in mind I'll look it up for you.

There is no such ticket. You can purchase a DaySave ticket which is valid on trains operated by the Southern TOC only, details are on their website.

Prices for all-line rovers (minimum 7 days) are:

All-Line Rail Rover (Standard)
7 days
£430·00

All-Line Rail Rover (First Class)
7 days
£650·00

All-Line Rail Rover (Standard)
14 days
£650·00

All-Line Rail Rover (First Class)
14 days
£990·00

The basic off-peak Southern only "Day Save" ticket is £10 (a peak hours version costs £30) but both have to be booked at least 7 days in advance.

There are other one day regional ranger/rover tickets available in the south of the UK, such as the "Heart of Wessex Day Ranger", "Looe Valley Ranger", "Oxfordshire Day Ranger", "Thames Branches Day Ranger", and the "Devon Day Ranger", depends where you want to go, exactly.

Northern & FGW are top draw when it comes to rovers and rangers now. Never expect Virgin & East Coast to do any marketing, but as long as they continue to accept, not a problem.

I'd advise on a Coast and Peaks or an East Midlands, which give more interesting journey opportunities in my opinion and are slightly cheaper.

My favourite bits of the Heart of England area were :-

Gloucester-Cheltenham-Birmingham-Derby-Nottingham
Gloucester-Worcester
Oxford -Worcester-Hereford (89 Miles/2hours+ on a HST xD)

Sadly ATOC think that it's a really good website, and refuse to accept that it totally fails to provide anywhere near the level of service as the previous site. They claim it's better. They are deluded!

East Midlands Rover with a Railcard:

3 in 7 days = £42.10
7 days = £55.00

Also beware that the East Midlands Day Ranger and the East Midlands Round Robin tickets cover different areas to the East Midlands Rover! Maps are on NRES website.
