Routing Information

[jasonkerner]

Hi All,

I'm new to the forum and just wanted to ask (possibly a stupid) question - but, where do you find all the accurate timing information for various tour routes, freight trains, etc. Is it available on the web anywhere, or is internal information to the operating companies and then gets posted when someone finds out about it?

Thanks

Jason

Hi Jason,
Some will says its wrong to ask but you have to start somewhere. Most of the timings come from online for specials but most of the other info comes from Freightmaster http://freightmaster.net/. You pay a subscription and get the info which is updated on a regular basis.
Glad to have you onboard

For almost all steamy things on the mainline try UK Steam Info , usually has full times even on non-steam legs. Railtour Info is the modern traction equivalent but doesn't always have times.

For other gen have a look at some Yahoo Groups , there appear to be ones for most areas.

Sometimes tour operators give out times, but more often they're "leaked" by staff in the know.
