Hi guys, I'm unsure of how routes are allowed in Spain (if there is such a way)

Im planning a trip from Argeles sur met in southern France to Barcelona and was wondering if on just that ticket we could go via the coast line (via callela).

Is there a rule that says which way you can go , similar to the UK routeing guide.

Cheers Alex

Not sure of the exact fare restriction (or not) details, but all the trains you could catch on the Costa Maresme line start at Macanet-Massanes hourly. This station is served by most local and semi-fast trains from Port Bou, Figueres and Girona, which then continue by a faster route to Barcelona.

The connections are not very clever, and the Macanet-departing train is not held if the train from Girona is late.

I have never had my ticket checked in five years on the train, but you will have to get out somewhere in Barcelona and most of the exits are automatic barriers, so if you have a paper ticket, you will have to go to the staffed barrier; the staff will probably assume you have come by the fast route anyway.

The line is really nice. Beaches on the left, hills and ribbon development on the right the way you're travelling.

EDIT: Or if you want to be really certain, buy a ticket to Badalona, get off there and buy a T-10 multi-journey ticket (which is the best way of getting round Barcelona anyway) and use that to finish the journey. But I'm sure your plan would be OK.
