Routeing Guide Easements

I found some interesting (& some odd ) easements in the Routeing Guide:

Journeys routed Birmingham may travel via Crewe. This easements applies in both directions.

Presumably this would help tickets to Shrewsbury from Euston, as the Route Birmingham tickets are cheaper than "any permitted" (but the online booking engines only show the any permitted fare if you select via Crewe

I don't understand this one:

300443
Customers travelling from Church Stretton to Crewe and beyond may travel via Shrewsbury. This easement applies in both directions.

How else do you go from Church Stretton to Crewe if not via Shrewsbury ???

Another odd one:

030130 Journey from Harringay, Hornsey, Alexandra Palace, New Southgate, Oakleigh park, New barnet, Hadley Wood, Potters Bar, Brookmonds park, Welham Green, Hatfield, Welwyn Garden City, Welwyn North and Knebworth to Hitchin and beyond may travel via Stevenage. This easement applies in both directions.

Again how to you get there if not via Stevenage??!

Another good one to confuse the unwary:

Customers travelling from Micklefield, Garforth, East Garforth, and Cross Gates to or from
London, route YORK, may travel either route YORK or route LEEDS. Route ANY
PERMITTED only allows travel via LEEDS.

But others are vague:

Customers travelling via Liverpool South Parkway may doubleback via Liverpool Lime
Street. This easement applies in both directions.

Does that mean that someone with a Manchester to Liverpool South Parkway ticket may double back via Liverpool Lime Street?
