:?: Would the following routeing be valid on an off-peak, day return ticket from Chorley to/from Croy, route via Carlisle, cost = £38.60?

OUT: Chorley->Preston->Oxenholme->Carlisle->Dumfries->Kilmarnock->Glasgow Central->(walk to) Glasgow Queen Street->Croy

RTN: Croy->Falkirk High (or Falkirk Grahamston)->Edinburgh->Lockerbie->Carlisle->Oxenholme->Preston->Chorley

Preston Lancs passes fares check for Chorley.
Glasgow Group and Falkirk Group pass fares check for Croy.

Preston Lancs - Glasgow Group is permitted on GP+GK which allows your outward journey via Dumfries.

Preston Lancs - Falkirk Group is permitted on GP+EG which allows your return journey via Edinburgh.

:D Did this on Saturday. 470 mile round trip, not bad value for a £38.60 walk-up ticket! And as an added bonus, all seven trains travelled on were bang on time, with no connections missed!

With the train manager's o.k., I got a train from Glasgow Queen Street to Larbert (calling at Croy en route), then another one from Larbert to Edinburgh, but Scotrail were also operating some "direct" trains from Glasgow Queen Street to Edinburgh on Saturday calling at various stations including Croy, Falkirk Grahamston and Haymarket, as the line via Falkirk High was closed for engineering works.
