Route learning

Not to hijack the thread but I thought I would ask my question here to save starting a new thread.
Are drivers taught about things outside the fence that could pose a potential hazard?
For example, just past Netherfield Junction East of Nottingham, on the line off towards Grantham there is a street light that is yellow in colour. To my eye this looks like a yellow signal in the dark, and could be misinterpreted. Would the driver rely on knowing where the signals are on his/her route to not be fooled by this, or would s/he be specifically notified about this .

Distraction risks like that are certainly part of route learning. Maybe not the biggest bit but certainly important. Distractions from things like depots and sidings should also be included in route learning documents/briefings etc.
