Do the Euston up sidings get used by Avanti or is it just other operators and engineering?

Euston Drivers sign them, there's no walking route so they're used to get a set out of the way and brought back rather than being stabled.

Do many Preston drivers sign the whole way from London to Scotland?

I am fairly certain they all do - with Edinburgh being added on when they get to the top link.
No they do it a strange way at avanti, XC are the same. The 225 hours is purely about train handling. Once they pass out they then road learn.

They all sign Glasgow- Euston. Top link add Edinburgh and take off longsight and Blackpool.

When the Pn drivers learn the whole WCML will they learn one way, become productive then do the other direction?
Trainees will learn Preston to Euston then they tend to get left alone for about 12 months before they learn Preston to Glasgow.
Qualified drivers that transfer in will learn the whole lot pretty much straight away.

Do the Euston depot sign the Independent lines around Crewe? I believe they are electrified...
No, nobody does at the minute. There’s a rumour they’ll be used when Crewe is remodelled.

Not sure, with HS2 up in the air it may not.

Also does anyone know if Sundays being outside means drivers are still scheduled for Sunday working and get OT rates or if its all volunteer based?
Again toc dependant, some have committed Sundays you are rostered to work and if you cant give them away to another driver you have to cover it, some have where you have to give 1 or 2 weeks notice and if the company cant cover then thats their issue.
Some pay an enhanced rate, others are flat pay, all company dependant.

Do you happen to know the arrangements at Avanti?
Avanti are committed Sundays where you will be rostered to work overtime outside the working week, but you can give those Sundays away to other drivers if any are willing to volunteer themselves. Otherwise it's enforced overtime. I can't say what extra pay this might entail.
