 booking on East Coast site Norwich - Brighton Via Cambrige 1st Advance ticket details come up it states route via Ipswich ! (Example 0903 departure tomorrow 30.00 Inc. trip with FCC). The unwary would be charged for new ticket when found on a Norwich - Liverpool St. Service.

Those Advance fares between Norwich and Brighton are intended for use on the direct Norwich - Liverpool Street trains - that's where all the reservation quota is set. Those Advance fares are routed Greater Anglia & Connections.

If you want to go via Cambridge, I don't think there are normally any Advance fares available - you'd need the Any Permitted walk up fare. However, they do become available when the GEML is blocked due to engineering works on weekends - like there are this Sunday.

It seems that Advance tickets are being sold for Norwich - Stowmarket - Cambridge - Brighton, but not for Norwich - Ely - Cambridge - Brighton. I assume you have to travel at least one stop on a reservable service in order for the advance fare to be offered.
