Route advice needed please

Hope this is in the right place?

I’m off to London tomorrow staying overnight and returning on New Year’s Eve.

However I see that there’s engineering work on the way back meaning a bus replacement halfway through the journey from London to Leicester which I would rather avoid.

My ticket is a Super Off Peak from Raynes Park (RAY) to Leicester (LEI). Once in London can I go KGX-PBO then PBO-LEI? I know I still have to change trains but as I’m physically disabled I struggle with bus replacements especially to/from stations I don’t know (bus replacement is Bedford-Corby, I know Bedford but have never been to Corby and it will set my anxiety off big time going there)

Unfortunately travel via Peterborough is not on a permitted route. You have to go via Bedford, the only 'deviation' which you can do is to go via Corby and Oakham, rather than direct.

It's worth asking the train companies in question whether they'd let you travel via Peterborough in view of the circumstances and your disability (if you have a Disabled Railcard this would be particularly useful to "prove" your disability, not that this should ever really be needed). Often Twitter or customer services can be the best way of doing this.

Raynes Park to Leicester via Peterborough doesn't seem to be valid, nor is via Nuneaton, according to www.nationalrail.co.uk.
The interchange at Corby is very simple, with a bus stop outside the station which has one platform only and level access ( that's why it is being used).

However, if you still wish to avoid the bus because of your disability, I would contact Assisted Travel at EMT and ask if they can arrange for your ticket to be accepted by an alternative route.
I don't know how this would be arranged, my guess is that you might have to go to St Pancras on the day to do it, but I predict someone on here will know the right answer instead of me guessing.
