Anybody know if it will be up and running by 2030 and I wonder what area they would link the first test area? I heard it may be as soon as 2026? Could it link the station to the port?
We can barely get single classes of train built and operating in 5 years, an entire new system stands no chance of being built in just 7 (dates based on the port of Rotterdam's press release)
Maybe they would be able to at minimum achieve what Virgin Hyperloop did, from creation in 2014 to first passenger test in 2020 (on 500m of tube in the middle of a desert), but that whole project shut down in 2023.
Hyperloop may come into play eventually, it certainly isn't time yet (as per above).
Can only see it happening fully tunnelled, for as explained above any failure in the tube, even a crack, would probably kill everyone along the entire tunnel.
But then a Japanese style maglev can be built above ground and go 500 kmh. Would governments spend many times more for this at 700 kmh (and still with significant safety risks for passengers)?
