Rotterdam freight

Does anybody have advice where to see and photograph freight going into and out of the rotterdam ports complex ,i would be using public transport and cant walk too far ,i know about the big yard to the west near to dordrect ,which used to be good for freight but i dont think you are allowed on the platforms because of the ticket barriers ,thank you

you can enter the platforms for free if you if you leave the same station again within 60 minutes of entering (so check-in to enter, check-out to leave.) source: https://www.ns.nl/en/travel-information/passageproducten/saying-goodbye-or-shopping.html

If you arrive or leave by train, you can check in early or check out late, as long as the time between your check-in and check-out doesn't exceed 6 hours

You have to be careful with that though, depending on the type of ticket you use it might not be valid anymore if you start your journey more than 30 minutes after your check-in. This is to avoid people using cheap off-peak tickets during peak hours by checking in early and than go shopping first before taking the train.

That yard (Kijfhoek) is not visible from a platform anyway, though trains via the Brabantroute pass through Zwijndrecht and Dordrecht immediately after leaving.

Near Dordrecht Zuid is a well known location for photographers (accessible from the level crossing in the Zuidendijk. Just a short walk from the terminus of bus 3 (stop Cort van der Lindenstraat) or the stop Kometenlaan of bus 7.
Wieldrechtse Zeedijk is also an option, though a bit less accessible by public transport (stop Saffier on bus route 7; peak hours only)

For trains using the Betuweroute you could go to Sliedrecht where there are various overpasses with a view on the tracks near the train stations.
There are more options, but of those I wouldn't know all details.
