Romic HST

Could someone please tell me why the Romic HST has gone to the Mid Norfolk Railway. I thought they already had the last FGW HST there. Someone at Leicester said it was en route to Great Yarmouth and Mexico. Thank you for any help.

Thank you for your reply. With the end of the HST in Scotland not too far away, it would be a shame to loose any more for export. We have lost so much of our heritage over the years in one way or another including the very best of British engineering, Concorde for example, the Harrier jump jet, Vulcan bomber etc, so it is very reassuring to know all is well.

Been covered endlessly but must remember there was hardly any future (afaik) for the HSTs here other than export - they are nearly 50 year old trainsets and while I love them (not making that obvious ) I'd rather see them exported than stored endlessly and scrapped.

But if you DO want to support them in preservation I'd strongly recommend joining the 125Group, 125 Preservation or 125 Heritage as all are doing fantastic work in showing the history of the fleet and keeping them running.

Agreed. The HSTs are anything but lost.

And as 16 power cars (8 Porterbrook/Network Rail, 4 LSL and 4 RailAdventure) are currently in or due for ETCS fitment in the Network Rail ETCS fitment program there's certainly the intention of a future role

Thank you for your time in replying to my message. It just seems hard at times to face reality. 50 years is a long time to have something which at times is taken for granted, it feels like loosing a really good friend. It’s longer than most marriages !. But you are all correct, they are still with us, and will be for sometime to come. Apart from buying one, I do support the preservation movement as much as possible, my wife will testify to that. !

Not really kept up that much with the ROMIC HST set recently other than being aware that they've done tours with 43094 & 43122, their Class 20 pair 20007 & 20205 have been busy on hire to RailAdventure and are currently on maintenance with Bodens at Rectory Junction, while their most recent acquisitions 57307 & 57309 were moved from Crewe and Carlisle yesterday by RailAdventure to Kings Norton OTPD, it'll be interesting to see where they're going next for the work needed to get them back in working condition
