Rolling stock routes

Hoping someone can help there were a couple of articles in Underground News about where trains could run and where they could not , can anyone tell me which issues I have looked at the LURS site but can not find.

The first one was by Kim Rennie and the second was by John Hawkins.

I think that LU had a document on restricted routes for rolling stock not a member of LURS so can't help sorry.

Dstock7080 thanks for that, I have just checked the LURS site and under the 2013 found that part but nothing for 2008. I suspect due to the title is why I missed it.

No plans at present, the objective it to recruit Members to the Society and not have the publication free online! (Members do have access to back-numbers).

I was hoping that a start would be made on the A5 issues but understand to put them all on would make a lot of people stop having to be a memeber.

The A stock as I understand were catered for at certain locations but I did hear of one that went round the bottom of the Circle line and all the way to Neasden via Rayners Lane having come from the East London line.

Being sad at the loss of the last A stocks is nothing to be ashamed of. It *is* unfortunate that a whole unit wasn't preserved, even if one can understand the political climate which led to that.

Some of us still mourn the 59 stock, but at least some cars of that stock do survive. The 59 still lives on, in the form of plenty of 59 stock brake dust still in the Northern's tunnels to this day! They were a proper Underground train - silver, crew operated, built by Metro-Cammell, and capable of the needle going off the speedo!

Nah, for those of us of a certain generation they should be silver. No doubt others just a little older than I would substitute red for silver!

Still fine trains though, all the more so before refurbishment. The original red/black/silver moquette really went well with the grey interior IMO, likewise on the 62 stock to their end. In its unrefurbished form the A stock also had a distinctive smell inside, which one presumes was dust (not brake dust just ordinary dust). It really is a shame a unit wasn’t kept, practicalities aside.

As a Railfreight employee in the 1980's , I had charge of a team who arranged a good number of LT stock moves , - e.g 62 stock to Crewe and Derby etc (and many others) , as units went off for safety modifications and refurbishing , - the clearance of the "A" stock on what was then BR tracks was a bit challenging. Very wide at the solebar level.

Was done , but with some severe speed restrictions through platforms in select locations.
