Travelled from Sheffield to Worksop yesterday, and was amazed to see a large number of locos (class 91?) and numerous carriages plus a variety of units, presumably electric in the sidings on both sides of the running lines.

Does anyone know why they are bring stabled there and what plans are there for them?

I think the exact reason varies stock by stock, but this is really a rolling stock question. I did a forum search of the rolling stock sub-forum for the word “Worksop” and there are hundreds of results discussing a wide variety of units and loco hauled stock, too much for a simple answer.

There's no Class 91s there, I don't think, but there are Mark 4 coaches including DVTs, which may be what you saw. For this stock it is stored off lease pending either sale/lease to another operator or disposal for scrap.

92 040 seems to spend its life moving around unproductively.
Does anyone know when it last worked in service, mid 1990s I suspect
