what about the preserved DEMU that Southern sometimes hire???

I would'nt say it was an invalid move either, plenty of previous postings have been on a line with only one type of stock.....

Didn't know DEMUs still ran in passenger service on that line.

And it's entirely possible to use a line with only one type of stock; what you can't do is take us to a station from where it is impossible for the next poster to play a legitimate move. So a class 171 to Ore/Hastings or beyond would have been fine as we'd be into 313/375/377 territory.
