Based on that you could have used a 357 subclass rather than going back to Upminster.

I don't think so, because Point 1 of the OP's rules says:

1) For each journey, a different type of rolling stock must be used (no sub-classes*). However a class can be re-used once another class has been previously (eg. Station a - class X - Station b - class Y - Station c - class X - Station d).

I did consider the thought of using a sub-class myself, but unfortunately that cannot be :(

A Two-car tram (eg. 675+685) to Manchester Sq (That was my last trip on the tramway).
