Yes I mean a 185, (What other Siemens gear is there in that area?), and no, 158s very very rarely visit Wigan nowerdays, mainly 156 units on the Blackpool - Liverpool run, and no Northern services to my knowlege run between Wigan and Lancaster, they all turn off at Preston. Northern do run a once weekly extension of a Buxton service to Barrow instead of Blackpool, not sure about the opersite direction...

Okay, so is the 158 from Lancaster to Wigan valid?

From Birchwood, we'll take a 150 to Liverpool Lime Street.

No as there is no direct northern service to wigan from lancaster. Plus you would be very lucky to see a 158 in either of those places (especcially Lancaster).
