Is it in the rules that we can only use rolling stock that is currently in operation on the line in question?

Class 150's don't run on the Chase anymore, and I don't think I've ever seen a 153 being used to stengthen one on the Chase.

I think you may have been refering to the 170+153 combi's that still (only just) opperate the line. They are due to be taken over by 4 car 170's in next months timetable changes.

Technically this answer is invalid as 150s never operate on the Chase Line now, only the odd 153 makes an appearance as you say. However if Eagle is willing to amend his answer then we may continue.
