I'm still sure they have that early morning service, but you've said you're certain they don't so in that case

Which early morning service are you referring to? To my knowledge; 144s only visit the North East as ECS workings to/from Heaton depot.

This is obviously a eastbound service your referring to; the first westbound service (06:46 from Newcastle) is a ScotRail 156, all other westbound services in the morning are either a 142 or a Northern 156.

My brother would very much enjoy this, he's a massive 180 fan!

I'm not so keen though, I'm a Virgin lover so let's take an HST to Stevenage.

I can't say I'm particularly a fan of 180s; though I'm not sure I'd call my self a HST fan either! 91s are more my sort of train ;)
