Can any one advise on permitted routes for a Rishton to Cambridge.

There are an awful lot.

Apparently going via London is OK with an "Any Permitted" ticket. Though a "Not via London" ticket is cheaper.

The cheapest and quickest route is via Leeds and Peterborough.

No, doubling back is almost never allowed.

You're expected to change at Accrington going on that route, but I guess you will have missed the last local train by the time you arrive there at 22:22.

That should be fine as far as I can see; doubling back from the destination routeing point (in this case Blackburn) to the destination is allowed as long as the routeing point passes the fares check, which in this case it does - the fares from Cambridge to both Blackburn and Rishton are the same.

I will have done it is about 22:00 the last local one, the one about 23:00 from Accrington is next stop Blackburn. Just wanted to check as not sure, but if it is on time at Accrington i should just make the last bus which gets back about 22:50.
