Remembrance Sunday is the second Sunday in November, 8th to 14th.
Okay, I got the dates wrong, but my point still stands. I was confusing it with the dates for the May Day Bank Holiday which can be anything from May 1st to 7th.

Braverman really is a disgusting person. It’s so concerning that someone with such hate and low intelligence is in such a powerful position in this country.

She is stoking up fear and hatred and playing politics just before the Remembrance service, which is certainly a low point for her. That’s not what our soldiers fought for in WW2.

It's no wonder Tommy Robinson is trying to get all the ex football hooligans and trouble makers to come attack the peace march, emboldened by the 'hate march' rhetoric and other hateful comments about Islam etc.

If they can start some fights and film it, it will perfectly fit the narrative and create more division. Perfect for the election campaigning.

After all, pictures of the camps in France helped lead to a leave vote in 2016 and this will likely help the Tories get votes as the party that will deal with the immigration problem (which of course they won't and don't plan to).

Thanks - I was contracted out, being in the railway pension fund.

The amount I've put in bold gives the impression that it should be included as an extra to my railway pension payment but it isn't - the pension paid is based on final salary and years in the fund, no extra for contracted out. In other words, I receive no extra pension payment for the SERPs 1978 - retirement period. Puzzling, I seriously doubt the efficiently run Railway Pension Fund would be wrong.

I think the 12p a week extra state pension may have been from the Graduated Pension Scheme which seems like the predecessor to SERPS. I recollect I paid a lot more than 12p a week into it, just re-inforces my opinion of the treatment of state pension contributions.
You can register for a government gateway ID and see your historic NI contributions. Month by month after rti was introduced. Annually before that. Most employees on a contracted out person scheme were on NI table letter d and you got an ni rebate. (you paid less NI than those on table letter a).

Edit. I didn't realise this was quite a while backm

Even the "Star", which normally stays off politics in favour of extremely lightweight, non-serious stories, is having a go at "Cruella" (their words) Braverman this morning.

You know you must be unpopular when that happens.

Even The Telegraph is against Suella Braverman (reported by The Guardian at https://www.theguardian.com/politic...an-police-keir-starmer-labour-politics-latest):
But Mrs Braverman holds one of the great offices of state and occupies a complex position in the constitutional settlement. Hers is obviously a political role, given that she is an MP and a member of the Cabinet, but it includes certain statutory responsibilities and functions.

Her newspaper article effectively criticising Sir Mark Rowley, the Metropolitan Police Commissioner, for not requesting a ban on Saturday’s pro-Palestine march, cut across operational decisions which have always been off-limits to politicians for good reason.

We do not want to live in a country in which ministers can direct officers to arrest particular individuals, or involve themselves directly in police decisions. If Mrs Braverman had wanted Saturday’s march proscribed, she could have brought forward an emergency Bill to do so.
What's ironic is that Braverman wants to be sacked, and Sunak wants to sack her, but it may not happen for internal Conservative party reasons only. It's not acceptable to me that a Home Secretary can criticise the police in this way; Theresa May made it clear that she didn't agree with a lot of their ideas but not the way they implement enforcement of the laws.

I swear she does stuff liek this so when she does get sacked she can cry to her far-right chums about getting cancelled by the woke-ists or something equally stupid.

She should've gone when she met with to Mossad without the PM's knowing.

Wasn’t that Priti Patel or has Braverman also been playing games?

Damn, it was, my apologies.

It's kinda hard to keep track of all of the Tory scandal
Thanks for clarifying - and Priti Patel was sacked by Theresa May, which just shows the different character of TM from the three people who followed her.

If politics is ever like the relationships at football clubs, this means Braverman is getting sacked imminently:

The prime minister has backed Suella Braverman in the face of calls to sack her over an article she wrote accusing the police of bias.
A former senior officer has accused the home secretary of trying to "end" police independence in her unauthorised article in the Times on Wednesday.
Chancellor Jeremy Hunt said Ms Braverman's comments "are not words that I myself would have used".
But Downing Street said Rishi Sunak still had "full confidence" in her.
A decision on the home secretary's future is unlikely to be made ahead of the pro-Palestinian protest march and Armistice Day on Saturday.

Thing is Braverman is correct in saying there is 2 tier policing. Compare the way the anti semitic palestinian hate marches calling for the deletion of Israel from the river jordan to the mediterranean sea are policed with the way football fans are.
She stands for what the majority think about the situation.
The police are actually too scared to confront the jihadis in these marches as years of woke, tik tok dancing recruitment has made the force weak.

She doesn't even stand for what the majority of Conservative MPs think about the situation.
True she is very much in the minority in her own party which itself is out of touch with the electorate. That's why the Conservatives are finished at the next election.

It was instructive to watch BBC Question Time last night, not something I ordinarily do. Unsurprisingly, the initial question asked was ''should Suella Braverman be sacked?'' After the panel had answered, Fiona Bruce put the question back to the audience and only one person put their hand up to say she shouldn't be sacked. This older fellow also quoted a ''silent majority'' but, self-evidently, it didn't apply to this audience, selected to remove as much political balance as possible.

Incidentally, I don't remember the Met Police being said to be behaving too aggressively to those football 'fans' who wrought havoc before the World Cup final at Wembley, quite the opposite in fact.

Tommy Robinson's gang pledging to protect the Cenotaph tomorrow is akin to the Kray Brothers' protection 'offers' in the East End of London years ago. How many of that gang will be suppressing their long-held antisemetic views in order to demonstrate their for the moment even greater anti-Arab prejudices?

Several years ago the EDL held a demo and wanted to fight a rival one. But as they couldn't reach it, just fought each other instead :D I wonder if we'll see similar tomorrow?

Nobody has scheduled any kind of anti-semitic march, hate march, or one calling for the deletion of Israel. I'm sure if they had then the police would have reacted appropriately.

Football fans are not always treated with a huge amount of kindness by the police, but they are extremely rarely prevented from holding their scheduled matches and attending them, so it's unclear what they have to do with anything

YouGov has 49% of people polled saying that Braverman should be sacked, with 22% disagreeing and 29% don't know.

Home Secretary: Suella Braverman wrote an article for a national newspaper saying she thought the police were biased in the way they monitored protests, a viewpoint which Downing Street said they had not sanctioned
Some people including some Conservatives are calling for Rishi Sunak to sack Braverman, and asked today half of Britons (49%) say they think he should let her go
While one in five (22%) say he should keep her on as Home Secretary
Among Conservative 2019 voters, 31% say she should be sacked, and 48% that she should not be
So clearly she has support.

This isn't correct. The main aim of the marches is to call for a ceasefire in Gaza. They're not hate marches and you'll find that there are a great number of Jewish people who also support the cause, so labelling them as anti-Semitic is just wrong. The majority of these people will certainly not be calling for the deletion of Israel.

There may be a small fringe element who think otherwise, but you cannot label everyone as such.

She doesn't stand for my views. Let's see your figures, please?

The police will be watching out for the more extreme elements with a view to having a word later. By not wading in and removing people there and then, they are minimising the risk of trouble flaring up and potentially putting themselves and other innocent people at risk. They will be gathering intelligence throughout and anyone who does express extreme views can expect a knock on their door some time in the near future.

What do you want the police to do? Barge in with batons and pepper spray?

Meanwhile, there is news reporting on UK economy high interest rates (https://www.bbc.com/news/business-67370315), so basically this means that we are all poor. If there is a news report about UK economy and that article is under the category 'Business', then this means that it is UK wide.

I do sometimes feel like that every person is at work, children at school, get stuck in traffic jams, having to wait at a station concourse with other crowded passengers, the Tories are on the news headlines and nothing else. But that is just basically a normal working weekday, but we all have to work, buy food and essentials, and pay taxes. At the same time, we all have to contend to high living costs.

I think the way the news is reporting today, both UK economy being flatlined and Braverman, I think most of us will be watching the news on their TV sets at 6pm at this rate.

Strike me that it's less likely some wokey conspiracy that means that the pro-Palestine protesters get carte blanche whilst other protests get cracked down on and more that when confronted with a large crowd which the police feel could turn violent in the right circumstances they'll cut them far more slack than when confronted with a smaller protest that they suspect won't do much to fight back.

Consider the treatment that the Sarah Everard vigil got (comparatively small number of peaceful women) versus say one of the big pro-Palestinian marches (very large number of peaceful protesters with men and women involved). Cracking down on the Everard vigil was easy, cracking down on one of these marches could get outside the ability of the police to control quickly.

It is, perhaps, also a reflection on the degraded nature of the police force these days. Fewer officers means that larger groups of people are going to be harder to control!

And to link it back to what the poster was saying about football fans, this is exactly the same kind of technique that the police usually use for football fans where there is trouble these days too. Much easier to use CCTV to identify who the troublemakers are and deal with them after the fact and much less likely to incite a reaction from others too.

From the BBC:
‘Tens of thousands are expected to take part in a pro-Palestinian demonstration in London on Saturday, which coincides with Remembrance events.’

I think it’s more like ‘pro-demonstration’ demonstration. Many ‘demonstrating’ won’t have a clue what they’re demonstrating about.

Nahh mate, the rest of the country are sick of the lies, the looting of the pubic purse, the bulls**t, the complete abandonment of the nation's infrastructure and the lack of responsibility taken for anything that goes wrong.

Nobody is sick of them because there's not enough ultra restrictive laws to non whites, cos that's what you're inferring, isn't it, as long as your liberty isn't affected and you don't have to think about anybody less fortunate than yourself. Why else would she espouse rhetoric and policies that a tin pot third world dictatorship would say eh?
