FCC don't actually run trains to these SouthEastern locations as technically the service might be using FCC trains and drivers but it's a SouthEastern service from Blackfriars southbound as it's then a FCC service northbound from Blackfriars.

This results in say as a example of SouthEastern driver driving a Southern loaned 377 on a FCC service!

sorry but im having a blonde momment so you are saying even though they use fcc trains to orpington and sevenoaks with fcc blackfriars drivers wages paid by fcc its a southeastern service.

It's just a convenient arrangement, rather than First or FCC empire building. It's all been planned by the DfT and executed by the TOCs.

South Eastern's services that used to terminate at Blackfriars can't do so because half the station's been demolished. FCC's services that used to terminate at Moorgate can't do so because the line has been closed.

The way around this is to link up or overlap the services through the Thameslink Core, and because the South Eastern stock isn't suitable for the route north of Farringdon there's been a stock reshuffle to allow the through services to run. The intention is that the extra trains will go to Southern when the New Thameslink gets its own dedicated stock in a few years time, although whether that actually happens is to be seen.

FCC may well not exist by then anyway, as a new franchise will be awarded in due course - and again the DfT will decide exactly what routes are included and what stock operates where.

The FCC franchise is scheduled to finish in 2015 so they will get very little benefit from the new trains which are coming for the Greater Thameslink Franchise.

The new franchise will also run trains on much of the routes currently operated by Southern and quite a lot of South-Eastern, which will include Sevenoaks, Ashford and Dartford.

Judging by the services covered very little out of London Bridge will remain with Southern. Four trains an hour down through Redhill, East Grinstead Branch, Guildford Trains via Sutton, Horsham Trains, Eastbourne, Littlehampton and of course Brighton.

Southern will be left with Uckfield (Diesel and can't go to Victoria) and a few locals in South London that TFL haven't added to the Overground.
