Unfortunately, the man famous for being Jack Jones the Butcher (or Lance Corporal Jones) in 'Dad's Army' and for playing Charlie Quick in slapstick children TV programme 'Grandad' passed away earlier today at the age of 92.

The name won't be forgotten as his comedy still lives on - he leaves behind his wife Priscilla Morgan and two daughters, Jessica and Polly.

A brilliant face in the world of comedy, "Don't panic Mr Mainwaring!".

Rest in Peace.

Mrs Deltic informed me of this earlier, It has had a profound effect on me as I was brought up on a diet of Dad's Army from an early age, and I had the pleasure of meeting him when I was about 10, I remember him being a very nice and worm man.
He is a great loss to the world of comedy.
I wonder what he will be saying to the man upstairs?
"Permission to speak, Sir?!?!"

It appears that he made a habit of playing characters far older than himself even from quite a young age. Since "Dads Army" is still having repeats on TV, his memory will remain fresh for all ages to see. Incidentally, did he have a character part in the "Bootsie and Snudge" series that I admit to watching very many years ago ? He always made me laugh.

I am truly sorry to see him depart this mortal coil and I only hope that St Peter recognises his undoubted military talent and gives both him and his trusty fixed bayonet a security position at the Gates of Heaven to put the Fear of God into incursions from Satan's hordes as he shouts out...
"They don't like it up them..:D
