RIP Gerry Marsden (1942 - 2021)

According to the news, Gerry Marsden of Gerry and the Pacemakers has sadly passed away today.

His band was the first to top the UK charts with their first three singles in 1963 (also done by fellow Liverpool band Frankie Goes to Hollywood in 1984).

This is very sad news.

Gerry & The Pacemakers were no 1 in 1963 on the day that I was born, with "How Do You Do It?", and more recently "You'll Never Walk Alone" has been one of the things that has helped me get through the COVID-19 pandemic.

"....Walk On, Walk On, with hope in your hearts, and you'll never walk alone..." is such a powerful message as hope, or the lack of it, can have a profound effect on someone's mental health.

I'm actually going to get slated for saying this but I prefer Gerry & the Pacemakers than the Beatles. They both emerged from the same city at the same time but I always felt the tunes by G&P were far more enjoyable to listen to. The Beatles work was good, but a little overrated at times. RIP to a music icon.

Funny enough am the same personally i was a never big fan of the Beatles. Liverpool has produced some great bands over the years.
