Ringwood - Brockenhurst ..Castleman Corkscrew.

Hi
Any one interested in looking at the possiblity of re opening the Ringwood - Brockenhurst Railway as an Tourist Narrow Gauge Railway?
I have been looking at this idea ...anyone wanting to look in great depht?

No.
a) You can't get beyond Lymington Juntion to Brockenhurst station 2 miles east. The junction is in the middle of nowhere with no parking possibility.
b) The 1.5 mile stretch from Wilverley/Wootton to Holmsley is now a B road with no possibility of parallel running unless you drop into the marsh below or the field above in which case......
c) you will be at the wrong height to cross the A35. The only possibility of crossing the A35 is by the underbridge that is now used by the Burley road adjacent to the old Holsmlesy station that is now a tearoom and finally ....
d) you will get no close to RIngwood than Crow because of town centre development.

The old Ringwood station site was very handily placed in the centre of the town and it is a tragedy that it is not still available but without it any reopening in either direction is pointless and uneconomic.

Brockenhurst to Ringwood is on ATOC's list of recommended reopenings for normal services, so that would presumably overide anyone's plans for a heritage/tourist operation anyway...
