Right, I've read through the thread, and advance apologies if you also use RailUK, as you will get the same (near enough) post there.
I am amazed it went through four pages, but first of all, I want to clear up the route I took out of Hereford. It was on the 0947 Arriva Trains Wales service to Carmarthen, as far as Newport, ex-Manchester Piccadilly. It was 175101, I travelled in the front (coach C) carriage. We were delayed considerably (minimum 16 down on arrival at Newport) due to single-line working between Tram Inn and Pontrilas (get your Quail maps out if you want more details on where it is!). It was then onto the 1115 First Great Western (Local :P ) service from Newport (Gwent - and I'm being fussy in case anyone thinks I went to Newport Essex :P ) to Weymouth as far as Bristol Temple Meads. It was run by 158749, and I spent most of the trip sitting at a table on the left-hand-side of 57749. This train was also rather delayed (around 20 down on arrival at Bristol Temple Meads) due to lineside equipment failure in the Filton Abbey Wood area. I was mainly going to Bristol to chase 7802 'Bradley Manor' here too. I got crappy footage due to the delayed trains, but that's life.
What I am saying with considerable detail/comprehension is that I WENT NOWHERE NEAR KIDDERMINSTER. Sorry to use Caps Lock there (or was it a hold down of Shift whilst typing?), but I want that perfectly clear!
I was keen to chase 7802 because it is my favourite steam locomotive, most certainly my 'pet' one.
The plan had included a trip to Melksham as well as I was most interested in watching a DVD James has, and it also allowed some HST bashing and stuff.
Something else that must be cleared up is that I DID see my Mum before disappearing into the station. I went back to the car and saw her there at 0940, 0941 I left to go and catch the earlier-mentioned service to Newport. It arrived rather early (at approximately 0942, sorry I don't know how many seconds past it was or whatever), by 0943 I was at the ticket machine purchasing my ticket. £18.15 parted with, and off it was then to platform 2. Got a photo first of the 175. Then it was to find my seat, which was also at a table.
One other thing I do want to clear up is that I don't know this gentleman Alistair and I were talking to. Never seen him before, but that is with no doubt in my mind and eyes (and everywhere else) because I'm usually out on a HST bash! I did get some interesting gen from our conversation though. I departed the corner by the traffic lights, as did he with his cycle towards Hereford city centre, at 0939, as I said to him I had to go in order to get the train to Bristol in order to chase 7802 there. And at that point that was that.
What else needs clearing up...? Oh yes, I know it is unusual for me not to be in contact with other people during the weekend, this was (as people have found out I daresay) due to putting my mobile down somewhere at home before departing the house to go on the bash and not picking it back up. It was driving me nuts as it was, I couldn't send gen, couldn't receive gen...
Oh aye, as Alistair mentioned somewhere on his thread I DID leave a message on Saturday evening around 2300, shortly before departure on the 2300 X72 to Easterton (some rather small village somewhere in Wiltshire I believe), which we took as far as Melksham Queensway. In this message I did say I would be in contact tomorrow (ie, at this time Sunday, now yesterday at the time of this post). Granted, I did forget further contact on the Sunday, this was due to being busy doing a BVE4 route amongst many other things.
Anyway, I'm not sure if there are any other things that need to be cleared up, I am sure someone will probably mention something. I'll end this now with thanking everyone for their concern and helping each other during the weekend. I am now back at home (arrived here after a rather unusual route home, not to my choice either, around 1414), at 1611 I am still trying to log in to The HST Forum (it won't let me for some reason!), then I plan to veg it out at home, making this post on RailUK and eventually The HST Forum to clear up everything.
I will say that it appears the drinks are on me next time I see people *makes mental note to avoid meetings for a while :P
*.
And Sprog, you would have had a chance to bellow your chosen words of anger/whatever today if you were in Yate...Came thundering through there earlier on a FGW HST...!
