Apparently Ken Skates announced yesterday at the Eisteddford at Wrexham that the Rhyl-Wrexham route will join the TrawsCymru network at the end of September. This has been in the planning stage for some time.

Service T51 will replace the exisitng 51/X51 services, with the intention of "improving connectivity between Rhyl, Denbigh, Ruthin and Wrexham"
There will be an hourly service between Ruthin and Wrexham [presently 2-hourly] and an hourly service Rhyl to Wrexham on a Sunday. There is no mention of a through service between Rhyl and Wrexham on weekdays, but presumably that is the intention.

If this is the case, the new service, which will be operated by Arriva, restores the through Rhyl-Wrexham service taken over by Arriva following GHA's demise, which was abandoned with covid and not reinstated.

We await the new timetables.

The 51/X51 already operates through Rhyl - Wrexham, although timetables don't show it as buses change number in Denbigh.

Do they still?
They are not advertised as such, and with Rhyl-Denbigh now being every 30 mins, Denbigh-Ruthin hourly and the Ruthin-Wrexham section every 2 hours, its difficult to see which buses go through!

They may not be advertised as such, but they operate through, Arriva have issues with the way there timetables are set out, not just the 51/X51, the 5 group Llandudno - Caernarfon, 4 group Bangor - Holyhead, 11 group Rhyl - Chester all show as separate routes but they operate through.

The new T51 service is now on the TrawsCymru website:-

One of the 71 plate Streetdecks previously at Green Lane depot in Liverpool is now in the Traws Cymru livery, presumably for this (it's 4725, and I would expect others to join it)
