Driver knowledge and RHTT set testing according to SE Gen, full 3J01 etc diagram to commence from next week
No issues with driver knowledge as its the same drivers that did it last year. This week is a shakedown of the equipment. We will be swapping the sets daily at Kings Norton to ensure everything is properly tested

Shakedown for Toton in place Thursday: 3J84 3J92

Also another GBRf light loco move to Toton, again might be for RHTT, might not, cannot confirm anything but it appears to be a 99 (or few): 0D99

Are there any paths for the Chiltern circuit locos to move to Kings Norton? 710 is still at Doncaster, 709 is at Peterborough and 711 is on the Bletchley circuit. 711 is a definite at least as I've seen a photo of it with a shiny new tripcock fitted.

They arrive on Thursday as the chiltern circuit runs on Friday for a shakedown

Interestingly, despite the various shakedown/test runs that have been running this week,
most of which somewhat confusingly use the headcodes of 'real' RHTT workings, only one
actual loco-hauled RHTT diagram (out of 30) has operated today
, that being the
70-hauled Carstairs to Alloa working.

(for clarification, 3W74 from Tonbridge and the two Inverness trains have started,
but are not running daily yet)

I presume that the trees have not started shedding their leaves in earnest yet?? o_O

Does anyone know what traction will be doing the Edinburgh and Doncaster areas this year

The only loco-hauled RHTT in the Edinburgh area is the Carstairs based train, which is Colas 70s.

Doncaster station itself doesn't see any RHTTs, but the 37-hauled Brough train and 66-hauled
Cleethorpes workings both get as near as Stainforth, just to the north of Doncaster.

The season of autumn on the railway officially begins on 01/10 each year so the “default” is for that to be when most routes are planned to begin.

That's exactly what I (and others) were telling people on this thread a few weeks ago,
but people see a random shakedown run and say "xxx RHTT started running today",
which in most cases is not true - it's infuriating!

Ok thank you, is there timings for these

The Carstairs train visits the Edinburgh area in an evening:

3S93 - https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/service/gb-nr:P20584/2026-09-29/detailed

The 66-hauled RHTT passes Stainforth at 0944 and 1244 on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays,
and the 37-hauled train at 1536 and 1700, again on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

Good luck!

As has been said, Doncaster doesn’t get treated. But like last year there will be at least one weekend of outstabling of sets, when York isn’t accessible, so all 3 sets will head to Doncaster West Yard for stabling and refilling.

Would it be appropriate for me to add updates on the LUL central, Metropolitan and Piccadilly line Rail adhesion trains here , or does that belong in another thread ?

If anyone is interested in LUL Rat schedules, this is a Google Doc that contains all of their timings and run info , albeit keep in mind that even though a circuit may be timetabled to run to a set time , they often run off schedule or not at all towards the beginning and end of the RHTT season.

Anyone know why 3W90 is no longer booked via Seaford branch except weekends?
This means there is no timetables RHTT - at all - Monday to Friday, including no MPV (3S93 does Eastbourne and Lewes but Seaford branch) or loco hauled.

3W90 weekday used to be Tonbridge - Brighton - Haywards Heath - Newhaven - Haywards Heath - London

Now it goes to Guildford ditching Seaford branch completely.

Quite surprised at this given bishop stone to Seaford is mostly covered in trees and the line around Southease south especially as well.

It's normally train No710 for the Met RAT ,
Train No489 for the Central line West RAT and Train No488 for the Central line East RAT

No Ideas on what train numbers the piccy RAT runs as though.

Hello all,
Just wanted to start another thread for this year's RHTT season, as locos will start arriving at York to pick up sets for different depots soon.

My main questions are, are there any changes to the operators and traction being used this year? Any updates would be great.
Does anyone know what will be on the fair water rhtt to Penzance this year ?
