Sandite seems to have fallen out of favour in the last decade or so, in regard to water jets. Was it just easier to run water jet trains, given the old Railtrack EMUs and Sandite Class 37s have all been withdrawn?

I saw one of these sets in Newport this morning, topped and tailed by a pair of 66's (no numbers, I was too far away to see them).
Just for my information, what area does this cover and where is it based, please? Thanks.

I saw it again at Newport this morning - 66119 was leading with 66170 at t'other end, going towards the East.
I won't say where or when but there were red faces recently when a RHTT left a station and left the RHTT operator (not the driver!) behind on the platform. When it was realised what had happened the RHTT had to "go back" and pick them up!
Oops!![]()
So they have a couple of members of staff on them then? Where does the operator go?
There is one runs: Bristol Barton Hill>Westbury>Avonmouth>Severn Tunnel>Cardiff>Radyr>Cardiff>Radyr>Cardiff>Ebbw Vale>Newport>Hereford> Maindee>Bristol>Western Super Mare>Barton Hill (2100-1300)
If the usual "treatment" is water, do they use the same train for de-icing ?
That's about it, 3jxx is jetting only, 3Sxx is jetting and sandite (Actually trackgrip60).
Trackgrip60 will only be laid where absolutely necessary, it isn't cheap.
