Possibly shouldnt throw this in here so feel free to move if necessary but this thread just reminded me of something that I was wondering.

Battersby, on the Esk Valley line is a station where you reverse during the scheduled journey. Is there a similar situation anywhere else?

I must say that confused the hell out of me, especially as there appears to be nothing at Bettersby

Moved to new thread. :)

Happens in many places actually, three I can think of off the top of my head are:

XC at Reading (Basingstoke<>Oxford)
SN at Eastbourne (Lewes<>Hastings)
FGW at Swansea (Cardiff<>Carmarthen)

Well as someone who had never travelled on the line it seemed to be a random stop in the middle of nowhere. Mind what a line, very scenic, and also a great number of bridges. Every minute seemed to be crossing over the Esk

Sorry mate, you have probably replied to the post I deleted because I read yours wrong. Apologies.

The line used to continue though to Picton (between Yarm and Northallerton). Battersby was just the junction station (junction stations were often bigger than the town/village they served).

They reverse at Kilmarnock as well (again, FSR 156s). A few trains to Kilmarnock reverse and travel to Ayr that way although the service takes longer than the journey via Paisley. Train usually continues to Girvan or Stranraer.

It's Battersby ;))), and it used to be a through station on a fairly significant junction!

XC Voyagers between Birmingham New St - Cardiff Central will reverse at Gloucester and Temple Meads.

Also during engineering works CrossCountry trains between Chelteham Spa and Bristol Temple Meads will reverse at Newport - saw a couple today after a derailment and they have been doing this on recent weekends.

Was gonna say Gloucester but someone beat me to it.

EDIT: Ahem, didn't see page 2. Coxster already said the Airport too.

Bristol Temple Meads has been mentioned already, but not for FGW Cardiff-Portsmouth services, which all reverse there. Loco-changes galore in the past.

Lincoln - Nottingham via Newark North Gate. Reverses behind a Ground Postion Light and the driver has to walk through the train!

Always remember reversing at Manchester Victoria on the way to Oldham, now what was that all about?
