I don't know if there's push going on, or if the article about SJPNs in The Times at the weekend has prompted something, but there was a piece on BBC1's The One Show last night (Monday) about Northern revenue protection and fraud investigation. And then this morning my local radio station (BBC Three Counties) carried a piece about Chiltern revenue protection, with a critical view of their use of contract staff. I expect both of these can be found on iPlayer if anyone wants to catch up - the radio one was on the Andy Collins show 2:09:43 in (you'll be thankful you don't have to listen to a couple of hours of inane drivel to find it!).

Yes - there was also a TIL / Chiltern article in yesterday’s Daily Mail that also mentioned this RailUK forum. I wonder if the Post Office prosecutions scandal has anything to do with the seemingly additional scrutiny.

I am new to this forum / area of expertise but Transport Investigations Ltd doesn’t seem to have a great reputation from what I’ve read.

Reads more like a thinly-disguised advertorial for a firm of solicitors...but then that's not entirely surprising for the Mail.

Difficult to understand exactly what was said at 04:02 on the One Show excerpt, even played at half speed, but the problem seemed to lie with purchase of “the cheapest ticket” which suggested that the ticket offered was invalid due only to its time restriction. Rather than charging the difference between the proferred ticket's cost and the lowest price of valid ticket as per NRCoT 9.5, the immediate response was “So what I'll do, I'll take some of your details”, which set me wondering whether Northern trains its TIs to report for possible prosecution in all cases where the ticket produced is invalid only by reason of its time restriction.

A solicitors who miraculously get cases closed. No mention of how much is paid...

The Stanstead contactless problem also had an airing recently.

Which problem, sorry?
The one where people touch in at Liverpool Street and get stung for a penalty fare because contactless doesn't yet go as far as Stanstead. You can use contactless at all other major London airports (City, Heathrow, Gatwick and Luton). The issue was covered on Sunday Politics in London and on the London news on Monday.

Ah, right. Is Stansted to be included in Project Oval?
