Following the theft of signalling cable at St Albans City yesterday, we (me, my wife, and 2 young kids) followed the advice of Thameslink and headed over to Milton Keynes Central to catch a train to London, with ticket acceptance in place.
Having parked the car and paid (again - we'd already bought it at Flitwick) for car parking, then spent a few minutes proving that Thameslink had ticket acceptance in place with staff at the barriers, we were on our way.
The ticket acceptance was still in place on our return journey and this time the staff were aware of this so we were able to get out and back to the car without fuss.
I did wonder though, what would happen if the disruption had ended before we returned, and ticket acceptance was subsequently withdrawn? Would we have been entitled to travel back to MKC or would Thameslink have expected us to go to Flitwick, then leave us to figure out how to (a) get us and the kids home without a car, and (b) collect the car parked a 30 minute drive away?
