Returning early?

Hi,

Am I correct in thinking that with a Super off peak return with a reserved seat I can return a few days earlier than the train that I have reserved a seat on?

Also which coach would be most likely to have available (not reserved) seats on a northbound East Coast HST?

2. I would imagine it depends on which stations you're travelling between, and when!

You can reserve a seat for free on EC, so if you have a particular train in mind you can get a reservation on it (and have the old one cancelled I would think).

Try coach C, that often seems to be kept for group bookings

Ask platform staff on the day of travel from whatever station you join at.
I think that, in Standard, its usually C that's unreserved and the busiest coach is generally F. On Leaving London, F is is nearest the concourse and is the first to fill up (F is disproportionately busy on all EC trains), but at other stations the crowds can cluster further towards the north of the platforms filling the northern coaches - Doncaster being a good example.

But there's usually many seats reserved but unnoccupied (presumably booked by others with tickets such as yours but using another service).
