Retrieve Oystercard memorable word

My friend registered oystercard with railcard discount at a LU ticket machine.
However when he tried ro register the card online, he don't know the memorable word
By phoning Oyster hotline, the assistant asked him to go to LU ticket machine. However, the staff at multiple LU stations nor Visitor Centre can help.

Is there a proper procedure to retrieve the memorable word so he can register the card online?

Back when NR Ticket Offices could undertake Oyster transactions, it was possible to update the memorable word/password on the card. Whether that can also be done through the staff screen on an LU ticket machine I don't know.
