Retford Panel Signal Box

Between 1976 and 1980, Retford had a panel signal box. Anyone know where this was located and what it looked like? Possibly it was a temporary affair, maybe a portakabin.

Retford North SB was at 138m 59ch so that makes sense. I guess the Panel also took over Babworth SB?

In early 1976 I was involved with testing this, along with Inspector Weightman and the 'men in white coats' from Westinghouse, as part of my S&T training. At that time it was set up in the relay room at the Southern end. Where it went after that I have no idea.

I believe so, but haven't definitive proof.

That is very interesting. London Bridge MPSB, where I worked for 25 years, was a Westinghouse "men in white coats" installation. There are videos on youtube that show the installation and those men. It would be interesting to see what the Panel looked like at Retford as it was installed around the time of the London Bridge works.

The 1976 Retford panel still exists as an emergency panel. It's a Westinghouse M3 type panel with a faceplate made up of 80 mm x 40 mm mosaic tiles.

London Bridge MPSB overview was made of 80mm x 40mm tiles, even the control desks were the same. Not sure what type London Bridge was, but sounds the same.
