Hi
I was looking at a retail service manager position for someone.
I was wondering if anyone could help with this role.

1) what is the shift pattern/rota.

2) what is the day to day roles e.g is this similar to a train manger role.

Thank you in advance

Hi - Retail Service Manager here *waves*

Shifts vary and follow what’s called a link - depending on how many caterers are at the depot will determine how big this is. At my depot, we have 14 RSM lines in our roster for 11 RSM’s (we have 3 vacant positions at present)…. Shift start times vary but can be as early as 06:00 and as late at 15:00…. End times from 15:00 to 00:00 - in my depot we tend to work every other weekend. It’s 38 hours a week on average, but some weeks you’ll work more than that, some weeks less.

It’s basically working the standard class catering from either the retail trolley or in the shop on certain trains. In the absence of a First Class Host (FCH), you will also serve these customers as well.

Thanks for that info.
Could I ask what the recruitment process was like for this role ? Was it just an interview? For example.

There is an assessment day, comprising a few tests and then a group exercise - if you pass that then the interview is done the same day otherwise you’re screened out.
