Hi all,

Just wondering if there’s any retail customer service managers on here that might be able to give me a little bit of advice.

I’m basically looking to find out what the rota pattern is for these roles would really (massively) appreciate it if anybody could help me

Thank you

Assuming you mean Retail Service Manager and not Customer Service Manager, it's a 38 hour working week normally over either 4 or 5 days. There isn't really a set "rota pattern" so to speak, and turn length and number of rest days varies by depot.

Which depot are you interested in?

Hi Jonfun,

Thank you for getting back to me and yes sorry retail service manager is what I meant.

Just got a role at Birmingham new st, but trying to work out the shifts so I can decide what to do really since at wmtrains I know my shifts in advance so can plan.

Thanks for your advice

Birmingham isn't the worst depot roster-wise, though I couldn't say precisely how the roster goes. It's typical railway rosters though so once the base roster is confirmed each timetable change that's you set in stone then for the next six months at least. Max rostered shift length is currently 11 hours, recently reduced from 13, with minimum 12h rest between shifts. Some opportunity to do rest day work if that's your thing and the plus point to Birmingham is that you'll go pretty much anywhere so there is variety. It can be a stressful job but the money's good. Limited progression opportunities but it isn't impossible, and in any case other TOCs regularly poach catering staff to be Guards and such.

There's worse out there you could be doing.
