I don't understand it fully myself. However.

What there used to be was a choice of either SINGLE, DOUBLE or TRIPLE science.

For Single Science you got a GCSE called Science, with one grade.

With Double Science you did more work and more exams and got 2 GCSE's called Dual Award Science, both grades were always the same and were the average of your papers marks.

With Triple Science, you did even more work and even more exams and got 3 GCSE's, called Biology, Chemistry and Physics, with 3 seperate exams.

Of course now they went and changed it all. I think its broadly the same, just with different names, and now modular.

Yeah for me, each science is counted as their own respective GCSE and each subject is done modular. So each Science has 4 exams with them, thus 3 different sciences, 4 examinations each and 3 GCSEs at the end of it

Critical Thinking I decided wasn't worth the time in the exam hall to take it, so I took the near enough General Studies which can cover anything in the world. The result was I got a B grade A level for doing no classwork or revision, just sitting the exam. No complaints here.

All but applied were modular.
Applied had to do coursework and sit the exam, whereas the other subjects had modules, coursework and an exam!
And applied got to go to the zoo

And I thought Standard Grades were complicated!

We only get one grade, but it can be broken down into separate grades, eg.

FRENCH: B

Which could comprise of:

Speaking: A
Listening: C
Reading: B
Writing: B

Which averages out as a B.

That depends on various complex and controversial factors, which stretch far more than if the traction is or isn't a combo and if or not I know the driver
