I'm somewhat confused by the revamp of restriction SE, is this really saying that return travel from Waterloo is only allowed in the evening peak?

Available as listed below,
Monday-Friday; and any train
at weekends and publicn
holidays.

OUTWARD TRAVEL:

By any train scheduled to
arrive:
London Terminals, London
Waterloo, Vauxhall, Clapham
Junction, London Euston,
London Liverpool Street
at 1000 or later.

Stratford at 0950 or later.

London St Pancras at 1003 or
later.

RETURN TRAVEL:

By any train except those
timed to depart:
London Terminals at 0930 or
later.
London Waterloo between 0900
and 1559 (incl.), or at 1901
or later.

Vauxhall between 0903 and 1603
(incl.), or at 1905 or later.

Clapham Junction between 0909
and 1606 (incl.), or at 1910
or later.

London Euston between 0845 and
1644 (incl.), or at 1846 or
later.

London Liverpool Street
between 0930 and 1628 (incl.),
or at 1835 or later.

Stratford between 0938 and
1635 (incl.), or at 1842 or
later.

London St Pancras between 0900
and 1629 (incl.), or at 1902
or later.

The following easements apply:
Towards London:
0655 Weymouth - Waterloo:
boarding at stations Weymouth
- Bournemouth inclusive.
0844 Alton - Waterloo:
boarding at stations Alton -
Ash Vale inclusive.

From London:
0820 Waterloo/0827 Clapham
Junction - Exeter St Davids:
to Tisbury and beyond.
0835 Waterloo - Weymouth:
to Brockenhurst and beyond
(including Lymington branch).
0850 Waterloo - Salisbury:
to Overton and beyond.

Just those two unnecessary words accidentally cut and pasted?

Didn't read it like that until you just pasted again! Reads to me to say it's valid from London Terminals from start of day - 09.29 and from Waterloo start of day - 09.00 and 16.00 - 19.00.

What I'm saying is that if you ignore the words in red, assuming they shouldn't be there, it would then read correctly, with the times then matching the Super Offpeak Return restrictions on SWT's routes, at Waterloo, Clapham Jn etc, which is presumably why 'wintonian' is interested...

Yes I agree that is what it is meant to say but what about the words "(except those listed below)" ?

I think it ought to read like this, so has 'kwvr45' mixed something up - I've added breaks?

--------------------------------------------------

TOWARDS LONDON

Trains arriving into London Terminals at 1000 or later

--------------------------------------------------

FROM LONDON

London Terminals

(except those listed below)

Depart at 0930 or later

--------------------------------------------------

{then all the exceptions - and nearly all LT have an exception, but a few don't}

London Waterloo

Depart between 0900 and 1559 (incl.), or at 1901 or later

etc etc...

Fine, but my origonal post was a direct cut and past from Avantix Traveller.

RETURN TRAVEL:

By any train except those
timed to depart:
London Terminals at 0930 or
later.
London Waterloo between 0900
and 1559 (incl.), or at 1901

It appears there is a discrepancy between:
  • NFM 08 CD, the version sold to the public and quoted by wintonian, and
  • NFM 08 online, the version in The Manual available to railway staff and quoted by kwvr45.

Yes, and if the latter is exactly as copied out by kwvr45, it's pretty badly written as well...

Well there’s nothing unusual there.

Restriction US used for a lot of CDR's into London down the SWML seems to be missing as well.

Looking at NFM08 online, Code SE was updated on 8th December, presumably AFTER the data had been frozen for the Avantix release.

Codes US (Off-Peak/Off-Peak Day Return) and BE (Super Off-Peak) were updated on the same day.

Previously, the SWML seems to have generally used the erstwhile C4 (not valid into London before 10am) and 4B (valid after 0930) codes for Off-Peak Day and Off-Peak Returns, respectively.

Cheers,

Barry

What I have posted has the same meaning as this, but online it is posted in a table so when copying and pasting into this forum it looses the formatting of the table, so sorry if it seems unclear. The "except those listed below" means that the general times for travelling out of London do not apply from the London Terminals which have different times as listed below.

Thanks, that makes sense, I hadn't seen how the online version shows it, and tables are a problem as you point out.
