I'm using trainsplit.com to work out a journey from LED (Ledbury) to BSK (Basingstoke) on Jan 21st departing at 16:52.

It's suggesting the following combination:
  • Ledbury to Moreton-in-Marsh Super Off-Peak Day Return (C1R)
    • Restriction L7 applies
  • Moreton-in-Marsh to Reading or Reading West Off-Peak Day Single (CDS)
    • Restriction W4 applies
  • Reading or Reading West to Basingstoke Off-Peak Day Single (CDS)
    • Restriction W3 applies
I am not sure I understand why the Ledbury to Moreton-in-Marsh super off-peak day return ticket is valid for the 1652 departure, upon reading restriction L7:

Outward:
Not valid on trains timed to depart before 18:01, except:
  • Moreton-in-Marsh from 17:15
  • Honeybourne from 17:25
  • Evesham from 17:35
  • Pershore from 17:45
  • Worcester Foregate Street or Shrub Hill from 17:50
Return:
Not valid on trains timed to depart before 18:01, except:
  • Moreton-in-Marsh from 17:15
  • Honeybourne from 17:25
  • Evesham from 17:35
  • Pershore from 17:45
  • Worcester Foregate Street or Shrub Hill from 17:50
The train departs LED before 18:01. It does depart Moreton-in-Marsh after 17:15 (18:14 in fact) but by that point I'm not using the ticket in question anymore!

What am I missing here?

Hi

You're not missing anything. It looks like, for Sundays at least, the underlying data is incorrect, allowing use of this ticket on all trains, not just ones after 18:00. On weekdays it's applying restrictions correctly. Basically, someone has made an error.

As you can see from the example, the explanatory text isn't generated from the data, so the two have got out of synch as a result of the data error.

In the meantime, you are at liberty to use this. Just print the itinerary for use when the inevitable debate with a guard happens (it will, this ticket is very cheap compared to a normal CDS or CDR).
