Restriction code 2V

Using the forums ticketing site (I want to go to Totnes) and it's offering me an off peak return with restriction code 2V (changing or passing though Gloucester). However the itinerary offered (XC BHM to TOT) doesn't list a Gloucester call.. Can I travel on this ticket? (I assume XC go straight from Cheltenham to Bristol, avoiding Gloucester)

The restriction code 2V doesn't mean via Gloucester, it's a time restriction. Route restrictions are separate. Are there any splits involved? There aren't via Gloucester fares from Birmingham New Street to Totnes. What's the actual ticket that's routed via Gloucester.

But yes, you will need to return via Gloucester or pass through Gloucester.

Regardless you can always travel on the itinerary issues alongside your tickets.

If the train is using the line from Bristol to Birmingham it is deemed to be passing through Gloucester when it uses the avoiding line. It is not necessary to be on a train that calls at or passes through the station itself.
