Ticket restriction details 2V. Each train ticket restriction code states when and/or on what train(s) the ticket is not valid and the days and/or dates that these restrictions apply.

Overnight Break of Journey is permitted under this restriction code, but the restriction applies for all individual legs of the journey at each intermediate station:

Outward (on day 2): Outward restrictions as above apply from the intermediate station, Monday-Friday. Return: Return restrictions as above apply from the intermediate station, Monday-Friday.

Does anyone know what this actually means? Does it mean that you can only break your journey at the change of train points on your ticket itinerary, but not at intermediate stations?

I have an Off Peak Return Birmingham Stations to Matlock, and looking at an overnight BoJ at Derby on the way back (well at Chesterfield actually, but would have to get a train from Derby to Chesterfield and back again the next day). Presumably as Derby is a connection point anyway this would be okay, but I'm intrigued by what is meant by the above information against code 2V.

It means nothing of any relevance to you if you are breaking the journey on the return portion as it applies only to the outward leg.

that I find the wording puzzling.

It means that if you break overnight, these restrictions:

Not valid for trains scheduled to depart after 04:29 and before 09:30.

...apply from the station from which you restart the journey in the morning.

Answer: No!
