Resetting Lenz DCC decoder

I have just purchased a second hand Bachmann class 57, which has a Lenz DCC chip fitted, On the box was written that it is programmed as loco number 7.

It ran in the shop when the guy checked it for me, both in A/C and DCC, and as you would expect with the A/C it makes a humming noise and the lights get stronger the faster it runs, but while trying to run it on DCC as loco 7, or any other number for that matter, it will not run, the lights don't light, basically nothing. I have tried assigning it a different number, I have opened it up and tried it on A/C without the chip, and it runs fine.

Is there any way I can reset the chip in the loco so I can try reassigning it under a different number? All I can really think of doing is removing the chip from one of my other locos and trying it in the 57 to make sure the chip is not faulty.

I am not a hugely experienced user of DCC and am working my way through getting my trains chipped, so there may just be a simple fix that im not seeing, but any advice would be great.

I am not sure you can do this on the Hornby controller, but what you need to do is a PROG RESET from the controller, whilst the loco is on the PROGramming track

If you do not have this option on the controller, try to find someone that does, take it back to the shop for reprogramming, or consider purchasing a PC based DCC programming kit

Finally, the ADDress is normally two or four digits
Personally use four digit
Therefore try ADDress 07

I did mean to put 07, not 7. My mistake. I had a brief flick through the Hornby instructions I got with the controller and the only reset options was to reset the controller back to factory settings, but it did state that this would not reset the loco addresses on the actual loco.

I think my first option will have to be to try a different decoder and take it from there. Although I am intending to upgrade my DCC controller, and had pretty much decided on the Bachmann one but my local model shop has pointed me in the direction of the Hornby Elite, and I tend to trust this guys judgement, but the choice of DCC controller is a whole different topic!

I bought a Lenz Set 100 a few years ago now
It has since had a firmware update, which I need to arrange for mine, but when looking around there are some very basic systems out there and being unable to reset a decoder is just daft
I've had to reset two so far
