Reserving Seats on a Specific Train

Doing a complicated journey from the south of England to Aberdeen on Sunday 15th September - travelling down on Friday 13th.
Planning on getting a Super Off Peak return ticket which allows the use of effectively any train but the Sunday trip I want to select allows only 8 minutes leeway when changing trains at Haymarket. As I can use a later train to Aberdeen, this isn't the issue but my selected trip books seats for every stage - I would want, though to arrive at Haymarket at 1811 but not to get the 1818 to Aberdeen but to get either the 1841 or 1915 - how can I not reserve seats on the 1818 but rather reserve them on the 1841 instead?

Some retailers allow you to specify extra connection time, e.g. Trainsplit has an "advanced options" you can then specify changing at: Haymarket and then add additional time to be added to the minimum connection time (up to 99 mins maximum)

Perfect - used Trainsplit (took me a while to spot the allow how many extra minutes for connections) but am now booked and saved £40 by getting the LNER at 1841 as using advanced tickets both ways rather than the return - through tickets as well so no split and no % of the saving to Raileasy..
