Reservations

I want to buy SDS tickets for a train at 0655 tomorrow morning and place a seat reservation at the same time. Is there a time limit for if I do it tonight because last time my mum tried to book seats at 8pm she was told there was a 6pm deadline?

It all depends on the operator, I'm sure I've hit a 2pm the day before deadline before, but the Virgin Trains website states 2 hours before the train leaves it point of origin

It's normally 6PM before the date of travel, but I think Virgin and MML Meridian Services have a 2 hour deadline as reservation labels aren't printed but loaded onto the computer.

I can only concur with everyone else. 6Pm is the latest for most Value Advance tickets also.

I went there just before 7.30pm, he'd brought up the details on the computer, selected my seats and just told me the train had closed that moment!

Never mind, I was assured that train is normally not as busy as others.

Virgin Trains used to definately be: Before 6pm the day before. That was about 3 months ago. I wasn't aware it had changed.

I'm pretty certain this has been around a while, certainly since the Voyager and Pendolino revolution

Anything that's got Electronic Reservations e.g. 22x and 390s can be done up to 2 hours before departure. All other trains with Traditional Paper e.g. is 6PM the day before travel. I presume to allow time for printing tickets etc.
