Reservations when already holding a ticket.

I hope someone can advise.

I have an open ticket for transform one for later in the week, but no reservation as I didn't know when I would be travelling.

I now know, but won't be near a station till that day. Can I get a reservation by phone anywhere? Google want much help.

You could try calling the telesales department of the company you're travelling with. A customer services number should be available on their website.

You will not be able to get a reservation by phone, if only because there is not enough time for it to be posted to you and I don't think it can be issued by ToD without a ticket.

Depends on TOC, VT should be able to make for their own services by phone, XC can make reservations on twitter (so GC presumably can also do that), and I think so can FGW.
No chance for EMT and I have no idea about EC.

A couple of weeks ago, I managed to get a reservation from Cross Country to collect from the machine at the station. (I had bought a single with a compulsory reservation for my young daughter and then realised I might not be able to sit near her as I had an open return.) It took a bit of 'discussion' but in the end they did it for me.

(When I got on the train another customer had pinched the seat and was claiming squatter's rights, but that's another story....)

You can get reservations by telesales. They don't issue a ticket, they simply give you a reference number, tell you the seat number and then ask for your surname to be displayed on the reservation label/display. You can use telesales right up to the day before.

In my experience, Scotrail telesales are the best at reservations so I would recommend them.

Definitely Scotrail Telesales are the way to go for reservations, most friendly telesales I have ever come across and very competent. I used them last night to book reservations for my All Line Rover and the telephone operator didn't even question why I was doing Aberdeen to Penzance!

I must say I've never found Scotrail telesales helpful, they always seem disinterested - like you've disturbed their piece and quiet!

Last time I called the operator insisted that I was wrong to refer to "portions" of the sleeper services... Because they are entirely separate trains.

Much prefer dealing with FGW's offshored telesales!

You're brave to spend that long on a Voyager!
