Donington Park hosts one of Britain’s largest international motorsport events featuring a massive showcase of Renault cars past and present at the 2007 World Series by Renault meeting on 8th/9th September. A crowd of more than 92,000 flocked to the Derbyshire venue last year and following a hugely successful event, expectations are high in 2007.
On track, the racing action is headlined by the 425bhp Formula Renault 3.5 cars in World Series FR3.5, which features the best drivers from Europe and around the World looking to break into Formula One in the manner of 2005 champion Robert Kubica. The other two series to regularly accompany these stunning cars are the Eurocup Mégane Trophy and Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0.

The UK’s leading national-level series, the Formula Renault UK with Michelin Championship and ELF Renault Clio Cup, also act as support races at Donington Park. The weekend serves as an opportunity for the brightest British-based talent to display their ability to a wider audience.

Together with a parade of Renault collectors’ cars, the highlight for many is two exhibitions each day by ING Renault F1 Team. French test driver Jonathan Cochet will be at the wheel of the team’s FIA Formula One World Championship-winning R26 racer. There will also be a demonstration of several Renault-linked historic F1 cars.

Check out our Renaultsport road car line-up, try our F1 simulators, enjoy the free Fun Fair and see the Renault Innovation Zone. Renault Aftersales brands, Renault Minute, Rapide Bodycare, Ixtar and Renault Insurance, will entertain the crowds with displays, games and prizes. F1 fans also have the perfect opportunity to purchase the new Renault F1 Team merchandise.

Does anybody know about buses to the venue? It doesn't look like there are any direct buses to the track, but there are to Castle Donnington and Melbourne. Which is the closest?

The Trent Barton Rainbow 5 from Loughborough to Nottigham goes right past Donnington Park (on its way from EMA to Castle Donnington), and there are bus stops close by. They leave from the Broadmarsh Bus station in Nottingham, about 5 mins walk from the Railway station. From the Loughborough end though the best one is the Airline Shuttle, which also goes past Donnington Park, but leaves from the Railway Station, wheras the R5 goes from Baxter Gate in the town centre, 10-15mins walk away. The Airline Shuttle can also be used from Derby, again calling at the railway station.

Timetables can be found here:

By the way, I'd be very tempted to go to this, but it clashes with something else I'm doing.

Oh, and yes, it is right next to East Midlands airport, infact planes taking off and landing to and from the west pass right over the track just after takeoff and landing.

I know, was wondering how long before someone said that!

I can't get there and back over the weekend and be back at home at a reasonable time to be ready for school.

Ah fair does ;).

I think I'll probably only end up getting to 1 day of it, as I have nowhere to stay in the area!
