Hey guys,

I know a lot of TOCs make it a requirement to live within a certain time of your chosen depot when applying for trainee driver jobs but is that across the whole board or are some prepared to be flexible?

The only reason I ask is because at the moment I live in Reading but my parents live in Nottingham. My thinking is that I could apply to East Midlands Trains (for example) and put on the form that although I live in Reading at present it wouldn't be a problem moving up to Nottingham as my parents are already there and so finding somewhere to live wouldn't be an issue.

In my experience there's always been a tick-box for "willing to re-locate" :)

I relocated and there were no issues when applying with TOCs at the other end of the country so can't see why it would be a problem for you.

Good luck with it.

But surly if it states in the advertisement you must live within 45 minuets of the depot at the time of application you must do?

I'd just apply using your parents address.

I did this at my brothers address when I applied. Then relocated prior to starting. Seemed more sensible than using my old address and offering to relocate as they have so many applicants it made sense not to make my application unattractive from the outset.
