Hi does anyone know the current situation with Sleepers when berths are not available due to issues with stock, If a customer asks for refund on berth inclusive tickets as not travelling the berth supplement cost is deducted from tickets after cut off point (1600 on departure date if memory serves) e.g. £120 minus £70 solo berth supplement = £50 refund for travel element, ignoring admin fee of course. So on this basis will TOC refund £70 for lack of booked accommodation ?

I think you'll need to provide a bit more information, such as which sleepers (GWR or Caledonian Sleeper), and what tickets exactly are involved?

GWR, berth inclusive tickets concerned as "day" tickets + supplements easier to refund.

The amount to be refunded would depend on the reason for the refund. It would be rather harsh to deduct a berth fee if the berth wasn't provided!

According to the NRCOT, surely you should be entitled to a full refund if you decide not to travel after discovering that your birth reservation will not be honoured?

If the train you intended to use is cancelled, delayed, or your reservation will not be honoured, and you decide not to travel, you may return the unused Ticket to the original retailer or Train Company from whom it was purchased, where you will be given a full refund with no administration fee being charged.
